Bournemouth out to end woeful Manchester City record

Bournemouth travel to Manchester City in the Premier League this afternoon in confident mood after a terrific start to the season.

Despite the loss of big names including Dean Huijsen, Illia Zabarnyi and Milos Kerkez in the summer transfer window, the Cherres are flying high.

Andoni Iraola’s side are second in the table and eight unbeaten since losing at Liverpool on the opening weekend.

Optimism is high on the south coast, ahead of an acid-test of their European credentials. Bournemouth take on Manchester City at the Etihad, in a fixture that has not proven fruitful for the South Coast side.

In 21 previous meetings, Bournemouth have beaten the Citizens just once. Though in an interesting coincidence, that sole victory came at the Vitality Stadium exactly one year ago today. However, their record outside that win is poor.

City have 18 of the previous 21 encounters and have failed to score against the Cherries just once, a goalless draw in February 1999 when both sides were in the third tier. In the Premier League, City hold an aggregate score of 48-8.

Bournemouth continue to perform above expectations, but a clash against their bogey side will be a true test of their progress.
