Manchester City have launched initial transfer contact over the future of Bournemouth’s highly-rated and versatile forward Eli Junior Kroupi.

Kroupi has emerged as one of the most sought-after young forwards in Europe following his move from Lorient, and a player notably comfortable as a central striker, attacking midfielder or left winger.

Drawing admiring interest from a host of clubs across the continent, Bournemouth are likely to be holding out for a fee in the region of £80 million and, crucially, holding all the leverage given Kroupi’s lack of a release clause in a contract that runs until 2030.

Manchester City’s interest this summer also fits a wider pattern of business with the south-coast club, having already turned to Bournemouth once before for Antoine Semenyo in the January market.

Now, according to a new update from Fabrizio Romano, Manchester City have been showing transfer interest in Bournemouth’s highly-rated attacking star Eli Junior Kroupi, and are keen and attentive to the winger’s situation having asked for information this month.

However, as is also the case with Barcelona and their interest in the 20-year-old, it is insisted that at the moment, Bournemouth want to keep the player under new manager Marco Rose for at least the upcoming 2026/27 season.

With Bournemouth showing no willingness to entertain a sale before Rose has taken his first competitive match in charge, any move for Eli Junior Kroupi looks unlikely to progress meaningfully before next January or summer at the earliest.

That said, Manchester City’s willingness to ask for early positions should Bournemouth’s stance soften once the new season is underway may lead to a revisiting of options from those at the Etihad Stadium – particularly if other options fail to accelerate.
