Liverpool’s pursuit of PSG forward Bradley Barcola was never going to be straightforward. Top European clubs are expected to rival Liverpool in their attempts to sign the 23-year-old, with Arsenal and Bayern Munich being two sides to register their interest.
However, Barcola has reportedly already turned down one of Liverpool’s biggest rivals in favour of a move to Merseyside.
A reliable PSG insider X account, has claimed that Barcola has already turned down a move to Chelsea.
Their post reads: “For now, despite all the clubs after him (he already turned down Chelsea), his priority is Liverpool if he leaves this summer.”
“And Liverpool have made him their top target.”
But what makes this update so important is that Barcola has seemingly signalled his clear intention to join Liverpool this summer.
Fabrizio Romano has confirmed this news on his YouTube channel, saying: “Liverpool want Barcola. The player is open to joining. He is attracted by the Liverpool project and feels it is the perfect club for him.”
“Paris Saint-Germain will ask for big money. I’m not sure it will be €170m. I will tell you what I know and what I know is that it’s probably not going to be that.”
“It’s on Liverpool. Why are they waiting? Because this depends on the final indication from PSG on the price. As soon as they know, the situation will develop.”
After weeks of waiting for movement, the wheels could be in motion for this move. Liverpool are ready to make Barcola their marquee signing, in a similar fashion to the moves of Alexander Isak and Florian Wirtz last summer.
And now, Barcola clearly wants Liverpool. The only remaining question mark is over the finances of a deal, but Liverpool may not have much choice in that regard. This is a need, not a want.
