On Saturday night, Guadalajara sealed a perfect start to the Clausura 2026 and, after claiming their third straight win of the tournament with a 2–1 victory over Querétaro at Estadio AKRON, confirmed their control of the match under the playing philosophy they have been developing, securing the win with the support of their fans.
The Chivas head coach spoke about the importance of sustaining passion, mentality, and consistency as key pillars, while also highlighting collective order and solidity as the foundation to compete in every match. He also emphasized the commitment of the entire squad and the need to keep evolving without losing the team identity that has been on display at the start of the tournament. Here’s everything that was said in the post-match press conference.
Gabriel Milito’s comments after Chivas’ win over Querétaro:
-“I am convinced of every player we have, but we have to make decisions. We decided to refresh the midfield, that’s why the substitutions, but every player who is with us is important and will get their minutes. They just have to keep working, wait for their moment, and when it comes, give us all the potential they have.”
-“It was a very well-played match by the team. At all times, we are demanded by the responsibility and the --greatness of the club. The game was under control, we created many chances, and we had good flow in ball circulation to generate attacks. Later, we allowed some counterattacks, which is something to improve and correct. That was partly due to our desire to extend the lead, but overall the team’s performance was very good.”
-“The team has played with a lot of bravery and passion, which is what we demand and what we like. That’s why I’m very happy with both the performance and the result.”
-“Daniel Aguirre surprised us little by little with his qualities and his understanding of what we’re looking for. Over time, he has become a very important player for the team.”
-“For me, the national team call-up is a joy. Hopefully they can enjoy it and return happy after representing their country, because that also helps us in our day-to-day work.”
-“We take every match very seriously. We try to have a dominant style, to be a team that attacks and controls the game, but always with collective order and a lot of effort to sustain our attacking play.”
-“The team showed sharpness and determination, both with and without the ball. From the attacking phase to the defensive one, and we also have great players who always give us an extra level of quality.”
-“We know how important it is to win duels, to provide cover, and to maintain collective order to avoid danger. We will always follow that path; there are things to improve, but attacking a lot is useless if you don’t have the solidity to sustain it.”
-“We finished last tournament well, and so far in this one the team looks much more solid.”
-“The start has been good, just as we imagined, but the idea is to keep evolving, because our opponents also play.”
-“The team looks good, they know what to do and they have confidence. The challenge is to sustain it, because the key to achieving important things is consistency.”
-“It’s necessary to maintain the passion and the mentality the team has today in order to be competitive.”
-“We’ve deepened our understanding of players like Omar Govea and Daniel Aguirre. We believed they should stay because they could give us the potential they have. We look for profiles that adapt to what we want to develop at Chivas, and their performances have been very good.”
-“We’re going to need everyone. We have a strong squad: those who start, those who come off the bench, and even those who don’t play today are prepared for when their moment comes.”
