The next important personnel decision at FC Bayern is on the horizon. According to information from the BILD podcast„Bayern Insider“, Serge Gnabry is on the verge of a contract extension. Talks with the national player’s management are at an advanced stage and an agreement is apparently only a formality

As BILD head of soccer Christian Falk and reporter Tobi Altschäffl report, FC Bayern and Serge Gnabry’s camp have taken a decisive step in recent days. Altschäffl left no doubt about the current status of the talks in the podcast: „I would definitely go further than it being an interim status, but they have reached an agreement.“

Gnabry is therefore set to receive a new contract for two years

The financial terms are particularly noteworthy. Gnabry, whose current salary is estimated at up to €18 million, is apparently prepared to make financial sacrifices. „The current salary will be slightly less,“ Altschäffl continued, adding: „Performance-related, 15 to 15.5. In the very best case, €16 million.“

Gnabry feels comfortable – Bayern focus on continuity

The signals from the player’s entourage are clear: „Serge Gnabry feels very, very comfortable at FC Bayern. He wants to stay,“ said Falk. This development is of great importance for the record champions, especially as there has been a lot of movement in the attacking winger positions in recent years

The fact that Gnabry is open to the new terms is seen by those responsible as a clear commitment to the club. „But Gnabry can live with it,“ said Altschäffl about the new contract model. The talks were very positive, both sides had come closer and „parted on a very positive note“

An extension for Gnabry would also have a direct impact on Bayern’s strategic direction. The 30-year-old is set to remain a central component of the attacking squad and brings experience, a title-winning mentality and flexibility to the table. Falk assessed the situation with a view to the recent past: „We’ve been this far with Leroy Sané before, but it didn’t work out then.“ The situation is different with Gnabry, however, as the will to reach an agreement is clearly evident on both sides.
