Manchester United’s search for a new midfielder has taken them to South America. The Red Devils already have a Brazilian maestro in their ranks in Casemiro, but the veteran’s contract expires at the end of this season.

The Premier League giants are looking for the 33 year old’s replacement, with Manuel Ugarte having failed to live up to expectations so far.

Recent reports have suggested that United have set their sights on young Corinthians sensation Breno Bidon for the job.

United want a new midfielder in 2026

The Red Devils are looking to strengthen their midfield in 2026. The position was on Ruben Amorim’s agenda in the summer as well, and United even had their eyes on Carlos Baleba.

However, the move never materialised, as Brighton & Hove Albion had no desire to let him go. INEOS are expected to return for the Cameroonian next year, although he is likely to cost a fortune.

The Red Devils are also considering alternative, cost-effective options, and Bidon has now appeared on their radar.

Bidon available for a nominal fee

According to Sport Witness via reports in Brazil, United can secure the signature of Bidon for just £10.1 million. The 20 year old has enjoyed a steady rise at Corinthians so far and has caught the eye of the Old Trafford hierarchy.

While he is naturally a defensive midfielder, the youngster has been deployed higher up the pitch this season to good effect. He has 46 appearances across competitions so far in the current campaign, chipping in with a goal and an assist.

There’s already a scramble for his signature, with scouts from PSV Eindhoven, Napoli and Al-Ahly keeping a close eye on him. The Eredivisie side reportedly offered €9 million for Bidon, which fell short of the Brazilian club’s expectations.

Corinthians would prefer to hold on to their prized asset, believing his valuation will rise, but they are aware there could be a battle for his signature in January.

The youngster is under contract with the Sao Paulo club until 2029 and reportedly has an £85 million release clause in his deal. Corinthians hold 90% of his rights, so they remain relaxed about the situation.

United, however, are yet to submit an offer for Bidon and will continue to monitor him for the time being. The Red Devils have invested in talented young footballers of late, and the Brazilian fits their transfer strategy.

Meanwhile, it is believed that Corinthians could be open to the player’s departure in 2026 to ease their finances, which pave the path for a possible move to the Theatre of Dreams.
