Brentford have agreed a deal to sign Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhín Kelleher for a fee of £18m including add-ons.

Kelleher is set to sign a long-term deal with the Bees after expressing interest in leaving Liverpool for a first-choice role. Brentford will pay an initial £12.5m for the Republic of Ireland international, that could rise to £18m depending on performance-based add-ons.

Thomas Frank made Kelleher his number one target to replace Mark Flekken, who will join German side Bayer Leverkusen for €10m (£8.4m).

Kelleher leaves Liverpool having made 67 senior appearances for the Reds. The 26-year-old established himself as one of the Premier League’s best back-up goalkeepers and made 10 league appearances during the club’s title success in 2024/25.

Speaking on the final day of the season, Kelleher confirmed he was assessing his options.

“I feel like I’m a number one and good enough to play week-in, week-out. And that’s what I’m looking to do,” the goalkeeper said to Optus Sport.

“This season, I was lucky enough to play a lot of games but it’s definitely something I’m looking at.”

Liverpool have already agreed a deal to sign Giorgi Mamardashvili from Valencia as Kelleger’s replacement. The Georgian is set to compete with Alisson Becker next season.
