Brentford are prepared to let Yoane Wissa leave if they manage to find a striker.
The Bees were adamant the 28-year-old is not for sale in this transfer window after losing Bryan Mbeumo, Christian Norgaard and Mark Flekken.
But journalist Ben Jacobs now reports that Brentford have softened their stance as they are ready to listen to offers for DR Congo international.
Wissa has made it clear he wants to leave his club amid interest from Newcastle.
Eddie Howe’s side submitted a £25 million bid for the centre-forward, but that was turned down by Brentford.
That angered Wissa as he threatened not to play for the West Londoners again if he wasn’t allowed to join the Magpies.
But the versatile forward returned to training on Wednesday, though he didn’t join his teammates in making the short trip to Loftus Road to play against Queens Park Rangers.
Wissa bagged 20 goals and five assists in 39 appearances last season. But with one year left on his current deal, this summer represents Brentford’s last chance to collect a significant fee from his sale.
Newcastle have had a bid rejected for Wissa, but it remains to be seen whether they return with a second offer as they have launched a move for Benjamin Sesko.
