Claims that Brian Brobbey is ‘to leave’ Sunderland for about £34m have been dismissed, with no bid or agreement in place. FootballTransfers reported the striker would depart this summer for around €40million amid links to Bayern Munich.

There is no evidence of an official offer from Bayern and the forward is not actively heading for the exit. The club are under no immediate pressure to sell.

Brobbey joined from Ajax last summer for around €20million, roughly £17million, and signed a five-year deal that strengthens Sunderland’s position. He has produced six Premier League goals and one assist in his first campaign.

He struck a late winner at Newcastle United at St James’ Park, then impressed again against Tottenham Hotspur after the international break.

Head coach Régis Le Bris has noted the striker’s improved fitness and growing understanding with team-mates, describing him as increasingly effective through the middle and in the final third.

As with any player, a significant proposal could influence the situation as the window nears, but there is no sign a move is close and Brobbey remains a Sunderland player.
