WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Seagulls this evening.
Kirby joins the Sussex club upon the expiry of her contract at Chelsea. The 31-year-old England international spent nine happy years with her former club. In her time with The Blues, Kirby won 16 trophies including seven Barclays Women’s Super League titles, five Adobe Women’s FA Cups and two FA Women’s Continental Tyres League Cups. She was also a UEFA Women’s Champions League finalist with the South West Londoners.
Kirby will now start a new adventure at Brighton & Hove Albion. She will hope to help the club to finally climb the Barclays Women’s Super League table.
After securing Kirby’s services, Brighton & Hove Albion’s managing director of women’s and girls’ football, Zoe Johnson said “We’re absolutely thrilled to welcome Fran to the club.
“She arrives as one of the most decorated English footballers of all time, playing an integral role in Chelsea’s recent dominance, as well as on the international stage having been a part of England’s EURO 2022 win.
“Her experience on the pitch will be just as important off it and we have no doubt that she will help us take a significant step towards our long-term targets.”
Kirby becomes Brighton & Hove Albion’s third signing of the summer transfer window.
