Brighton are willing to accept less than the £100 million they were previously demanding, music to the ears of the Man United hierarchy.

That valuation was a real stumbling block for those at Man Utd, but a reduction will encourage them to push hard for the Cameroonian midfielder.

Baleba is one of the candidates United are tracking as they look to replace Casemiro.

Man Utd need more grit and legs in the engine room, and Baleba fits the bill.

He is a tough-talking, buccaneering presence who can elevate the midfield with his youthful energy.

According to Brightin’s official website, Baleba is very much a triple threat, a fantastic ball-carrier and turner, as well as a neat passer and offers final-third impact, too’.

However, he is not the only target on Man United’s shortlist, with the club also tracking Sandro Tonali, Bruno Guimaraes, Adam Wharton and Elliot Anderson.

Baleba is a risky option for United

It is unclear whether Man Utd will take the punt on Baleba even with the reduced sum.

Spending anything close to even £100m for Baleba would be a very wild punt by Man Utd.

While he is a promising talent with significant upside, there are still questions about whether he is ready for the jump.

Glaring holes in his game have been exposed, and he would not get the opportunity to fine-tune his play in a high-pressure environment at United

United should do what Brighton did and find an equally influential talent in Ligue 1 rather than overpaying for Baleba.

The French league is blessed with many promising central midfielders, and Man Utd can scour that market extensively instead of coughing up a staggering sum for Baleba.
