The broadcasters are all over Newcastle United matches when it comes to selecting games to show live.

So much so, that there is a schedule now whereby a run of games, sees 21 of 22 Newcastle United matches shown by one or the other of these two broadcasters to a UK audience.

This 22 game run started with Newcastle v Spurs on Wednesday 29 October in the Carabao Cup and extends to Liverpool v Newcastle on Saturday 31 January.

Thursday saw the latest (belated!) update from broadcasters, with all three late January Newcastle United matches in the Premier League chosen to be shown, including that one at Anfield.

It could extend even further as we are yet to find out the February 2026 and beyond Premier League choices from the broadcasters.

If Newcastle get past Fulham, then the two semi-final matches in the Carabao Cup would be another two games that would be shown live by Sky Sports and make it 23 of 24 shown by the broadcasters. The FA Cup third round will be played on the weekend of Saturday 10 January and that match is yet to be drawn and then potentially chosen by one of the broadcasters.

My thoughts

It is a double-edged sword.

Never before has there been so many Newcastle United matches that you can watch on TV.

Never before has there been so much change and inconvenience for those who regularly go to the games.
