Alarm bells started ringing within the halls of Manchester United when the recent interview of Bruno Fernandes began airing.

The club captain hinted at INEOS being open to the idea of letting him leave in the summer, but Ruben Amorim and the midfielder’s family asked the 31-year-old to stay put.

The co-owners were not pleased with the revelation, and plenty of players in the squad feel the Portugal international might be playing at Old Trafford for the final season.

Saudi Pro League sides are expected to return once the summer window opens, while European clubs are also keeping a watch on proceedings.

However, Bruno Fernandes has come out and allayed those fears, claiming he still feels he can win it all for United. And he also revealed that INEOS are also on the same page.

And the 31-year-old feels obligated to help return the club to the heights the fans used to experience almost year back when Sir Alex Ferguson was boss.

“Obviously, when I speak about going and winning trophies, I stayed here because I think I still can win trophies here,” he told on Rio Ferdinand’s podcast.

“I wouldn’t have stayed here if the club hasn’t told me our aim is still to get the highest we can be, get back to winning trophies, get back to be the club we were before.

“Because if that was not the aim then, yes, I wouldn’t have stayed here.

“But [it’s] because I know the aim of the club is still to get back to where they want to be, and where I want the club to be, and that’s why I came to the club in the first place.

“So, if I can help to get back there, that’s all I want to do.”

United are currently sixth, only two points from fourth position. Returning to the Champions League should be the first step to realising those dreams.
