Bruno Lazaroni has rejected an approach from Fernando Diniz to join Corinthians, choosing to remain at Vasco. The club’s permanent assistant thanked the coach but opted to stay in Rio de Janeiro for family reasons.

According to Atenção, Vascaínos, his decision also reflected gratitude towards president Pedrinho and technical director Felipe Maestro.

Lazaroni and Diniz previously worked together at Vasco during the coach’s most recent spell, from May 2025 to February this year, forging a strong relationship.

Bruno is the son of Sebastião Lazaroni, a Rio state champion with Vasco in 1987 and 1988, Brazil’s coach at the 1990 World Cup, and Copa América winner in 1989.

The assistant is currently in Buenos Aires as part of the coaching group with Marcelo Salles, who will take charge against Barracas Central in the first round of the Copa Sudamericana. Kick-off is at 19:00 Brasília time at the Florencio Sola stadium, in Banfield.
