Bryan Cristante, Roma midfielder and captain, is one of the Giallorossi’s longest-serving players, having arrived in 2018.
The number 4 recently participated in Idealista.it’s “A casa dei campioni” column, where he recounted his experience in the capital, his best moments with the team, and his daily life in Rome.
Cristante, now seven years with Roma, spoke about his connection to the city: “Seven years is a long time, and it will become eight at the end of the season. On a professional level, I’ve never stayed in one place for so long,” he said, emphasizing how much he now feels a part of the city.
The most significant moments of his career with Roma, according to Cristante, are tied to the Conference League victory. “Winning the Conference League, with the embrace of the entire city, practically all of them out in the streets, is one of the most beautiful moments,” he recalled.
Cristante also spoke about the return of Gian Piero Gasperini as Roma coach, a manager who had a huge impact on his career at Atalanta. “He’s still the same old Gasperini, fired up and eager to do well and convey his ideas to the team. He’s already succeeded after the first few months, and it shows on the pitch,” said the Giallorossi captain, praising the coach’s effectiveness and his playing style.
In the Roma locker room, Cristante described the group as truly cohesive, with diverse personalities coexisting.
“Those of us who have been here for the longest time, like myself, Lorenzo Pellegrini, Gianluca Mancini, Stephan El Shaarawy, try to help the younger players understand where they stand and the responsibility that wearing this shirt entails,” he explained.
Regarding his most engaging and most annoying teammates, he preferred not to name names, but emphasized how the group is very united.
When asked his secret to consistently being a starter, Cristante humbly replied: “I put myself at the coaches’ disposal, I always try to do my job to the best of my ability.” This attitude has allowed him to consistently be a key presence for the team, regardless of coaching changes.
