José Mourinho raised the idea of a “virtual league table” before Benfica’s trip to Gil Vicente, prompting BTV to spell out what he meant.

According to Glorioso 1904, the club channel set out a “virtual classification” using graphics and the assessment of its refereeing analyst António Rola.

The breakdown says Benfica are six points down on that reconstruction, while Porto and Sporting have two and six extra respectively. In this version, Porto still lead on 63 rather than 65, Benfica are second on 61 with a game in hand, and Sporting are third on 55.

Mourinho referred repeatedly to a real and a virtual table, citing refereeing errors he believes have harmed Benfica. He said he wants to stay and honour his contract, would also renew without debate, but stressed he only wants to play one league, not both real and virtual.

Benfica visit Gil Vicente on Monday 2 March at 20:15 at Estádio Cidade de Barcelos in the Liga Portugal Betclic’s 24th round. They begin the night third on 55 points.
