England thrashed rivals Wales 3-0 in an international friendly game at Wembley Stadium on Thursday evening.Manager Tuchel named a strong starting line-up featuring Arsenal stars Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka. At the same time, Tottenham Hotspur defender Djed Spence was handed his first-ever start for the Three Lions.England got off to a flying start, opening the scoring in the third minute as Marc Guehi cut the ball back for Morgan Rogers to score his first-ever international goal.Rogers’ Aston Villa team-mate Ollie Watkins doubled England’s lead in the 11th minute, poking the ball home at the back post. The Three Lions continued their dominance and added to their tally in the 20th minute through Saka, who curled beautifully into the top corner.According to the BBC, the goal marked Saka’s 13th international goal, making him Arsenal’s top scorer for England. His strike also meant England scored three goals inside the first 20 minutes of a game for the first time in 38 years. Watkins should have made it 4-0 in the 39th minute, when he received a lovely pass unmarked two yards out, but he skied his effort and got hurt in the process after colliding with the post.Fulham forward Harry Wilson got Wales’ first serious attempt, but could only fire his effort wide of the post.England ended the first half with total dominance, registering five shots on target while Wales could not muster any.Tuchel made one change just after the interval, replacing Watkins with Manchester United loanee Marcus Rashford.Four minutes before the hour mark, goalkeeper Jordan Pickford made his first save of the game from David Brooks’ volley.Ruben Loftus-Cheek replaced Rice in the 69th minute, ending his six-year drought of not making an appearance for England.Antony Gordon got the game’s final chance but was denied from scoring by Joe Rodon’s brilliant defending.England have now extended their unbeaten run against Wales to eight games and will hope to keep the momentum when they face Latvia in the FIFA World Cup qualifiers next Tuesday.
