Arsenal secured a 2-1 win over Real Madrid in the second leg of their UEFA Champions League quarterfinal, advancing 5-1 on aggregate to set up a semifinal clash with Paris Saint-Germain.
After Bukayo Saka missed a penalty that could have given Arsenal a 1-0 lead, it looked like Real Madrid might capitalize on their 3-0 aggregate deficit. But that wasn’t the case.
Saka made up for his earlier miss by scoring in the 65th minute to put Arsenal ahead 1-0. Real Madrid responded quickly with a goal from Vinicius Jr. in the 67th minute, but that was all they could muster. Gabriel Martinelli sealed the win for Arsenal with a goal in stoppage time.

The matchup is set between Arsenal and PSG, who previously met in the league phase of this season’s competition. Speaking to TNT Sports, Saka shared his initial thoughts on facing the Parisians in the next round.
“Much different, I see them playing with much more confidence,” Saka said (h/t BBC). “We will be ready and it will be a very good match.”
Facing PSG will be a different challenge for Arsenal compared to Real Madrid. While Madrid has world-class attackers, they don’t always commit to tracking back and defending. If PSG wants to reach the Champions League final, they’ll have to get past a third English club.
