Werder Bremen goalkeeper Michael Zetterer made four saves, securing a clean sheet and a shock away win against the champions.

Union Berlin captain Christopher Trimmel returned to the starting line-up, steadied the defence and set up the equaliser in a 2-1 win over Eintracht. Mainz’s Dominik Kohr scored, won six duels and blocked two shots as their fine run continued.

Augsburg skipper Jeffrey Gouweleeuw scored the winner against Dortmund and organised a backline that kept a clean sheet. Team-mate Dimitrios Giannoulis impressed, completing four dribbles and winning four duels.

In midfield, Nadiem Amiri completed 87 percent of his passes and struck superbly as Mainz beat Gladbach 3-1. Romano Schmid added a goal and three key passes for Werder.

Holstein Kiel’s Steven Skrzybski hit a first-half brace in a 2-2 draw with Stuttgart. Raphael Guerreiro’s early double put FC Bayern two up, but they lost 2-3 to Bochum. Jae-sung Lee set up two goals for Mainz.

Hoffenheim forward Haris Tabakovic scored, won seven duels and made two key passes.
