Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw says City’s Jade Rose could become one of the best defenders in the world.
Her comments come on the latest episode of the Official Man City Podcast which is available now on CITY+.
Canada international Rose became the Blues’ first summer signing of 2025 following a hugely impressive collegiate career at Harvard University.
She was also named 2023 Canada Soccer Women’s Young Player of the Year before her City switch having made her senior international debut in 2021.
Since arriving at the Joie Stadium, Rose has continued to impress across 20 outings so far – helping Andrée Jeglertz’s to sit at the WSL’s summit and reach the FA Cup quarter-finals.

And Bunny believes the sky is the limit for the 23-year-old as the centre-back forges her professional career.
“She has to believe it, but for me, I’ve seen her day-in day-out how she manages herself both on and off the pitch. In the years to come, in the near future, she could become one of the best defenders in the world,” she declared.
“I hold her to those high standards, but she has what it takes. She came in and even though she’s one of the younger ones in the squad, she acts like an older one.
“She’s very mature and she takes good care of her body as well. We can only sat it, but for her, she could be one of the best and just go for it.”
Bunny also detailed on the latest podcast how she relishes her battles with Rose in training – explaining how they both give as good as they get when facing each other on the field.
And the Jamaican believes their duels at the City Football Academy has brought out the best in both of them.

“She’s one of the closest ones I have on the team,” Bunny added.
“We get along really well, and she’s a tough one [to play against in training], but I like coming up against Jade because she gets the best out of me and I think I get the best out of her as well.
“Sometimes we are both on the losing and receiving end of it, but just by having that standard each and every day [thinking] ‘I need to be at my best today’, that just automatically helps the group.
“With her, I’m assuming that when she goes into games, depending on the attackers they have, she’ll be able to manage them.
“Of course, everyone’s different in their own way, but she’s been doing really well this season.”
