The Clarets are monitoring the situation of the Cameroon international.

Burnley are preparing for their return to the Championship and have already identified targets despite not having a head coach in place.

The Clarets were relegated from the Premier League after finishing in 19th but have had substantial time to look ahead to the 2026/27 campaign after a poor season.

Scott Parker left Turf Moor by mutual consent in late April, and while there have been plenty of names linked with the vacant hot seat, it is still unoccupied.

The Lancashire club have a strong second-tier squad, but with several outgoings expected, Burnley need to bring in reinforcements, and they have now been linked with a striker who will be available for nothing at the end of the month.

The Clarets are heading to the Championship with some strong forward options, most notably Zian Flemming, who bagged 11 Premier League goals last term.

If the 27-year-old remains at Turf Moor this summer, then the club have a stellar second-tier option alongside several other strikers, although forward departures are likely.

Now, Burnley are monitoring the situation of Toulouse FC's Frank Magri, who will be available as a free agent at the end of June, according to Foot Mercato.

However, the publication reports that several MLS teams are interested in the 26-year-old, with a move to New York City FC appearing to be the most likely.

They add that the Cameroon international is also attracting interest from newly promoted German club Schalke, as a move away from France seems the most likely scenario.

Who is Magri and what would he bring to Turf Moor?

Magri has been sidelined from playing matches for Toulouse since February following his refusal to extend his contract at the Ligue 1 outfit.

The Cameroonian has spent his entire senior playing career in France, representing Angers SCO, SC Bastia and Toulouse, although he never made a first-team appearance for Angers.

Magri netted 15 times in 39 appearances for Bastia, with his 13 league goals in the 2022/23 Ligue 2 campaign his best numbers in an individual season.

Since moving to Toulouse in 2023, the striker has found goals harder to come by, although he has been playing at a higher level, scoring five goals in each of his three seasons at the club.

The 26-year-old is a hard-working, mobile centre-forward who relies more on his aggression and work rate rather than his technical ability.

Despite not being the tallest of forwards, Magri has been a strong aerial threat, ranking in the top 20 per cent of Ligue 1 strikers for headed shots, according to Fotmob.

Burnley will need players willing to fight for the cause next term, and alongside Flemming, Magri could be a decent option, especially as he would be available for free.
