Dara O'Shea is a wanted man - including from his former club Burnley
Ipswich Town defender Dara O'Shea is wanted by three Premier League clubs ahead of the 2025-26 season - including his former side Burnley.
The Tractor Boys landed the services of the Irish defender from the Clarets last August in a £15 million deal, and that came after he'd started the season in their starting 11, playing twice and scoring in a 4-1 drubbing of Luton Town before heading to Portman Road.
After just one season with Town in the top flight though, O'Shea could be heading back there - although the club's stance is clear on any interest in the 26-year-old.
According to a report from The Irish Sun, O'Shea is in-demand this summer despite being part of a side relegated from the Premier League, with three clubs keen to give him another chance in England's top flight.
They curiously enough include Burnley, who sold the ex-West Brom man to Ipswich 10 months ago, where he went on to play 35 times and even won the club's Player of the Year award, despite being part of a defence that conceded 82 times in the league.
Also in the hunt for O'Shea's services, as per the report, are the team that pipped Burnley to the Championship title in the form of Leeds United, despite having an extremely solid centre-half pairing of Pascal Struijk and Joe Rodon, with Ethan Ampadu also an option.
Vitor Pereira's Wolves are also in the running for O'Shea, but all suitors may be left disappointed in the pursuit of his signature, as Ipswich CEO Mark Ashton has confirmed that there will not be a fire-sale of Kieran McKenna's squad ahead of the 2025-26 season, with only a select number of sales planned - Liam Delap has already exited the Suffolk outfit to sign for Chelsea.
O'Shea was one of the positives for Ipswich as they failed to avoid the drop back to the Championship, and being named their Player of the Year says a lot about how well-received he has been.
However, it was his second relegation from the Premier League in a row and his third in total, having racked them up with Burnley and West Brom too - that may get rather tiring after a while.
Burnley and Leeds will need to strengthen significantly to stay in the top flight for more than one year, whilst Wolves may be a weaker proposition next season without Matheus Cunha and Rayan Ait-Nouri, so the chances are if O'Shea moves on, he will be in another relegation battle.
Another season under his belt at Ipswich, this time as one of the Championship's best defenders, may be a better course of action for the Irishman to take, although the money may talk in the end when it comes to a transfer fee and wages.
