In the rescheduled match of Matchday 6, the BVB women faced GSV Moers, currently bottom of the Regionalliga West table. Compared to the cup match against Bayern Munich, coach Markus Högner made several changes to the starting line-up: Ann-Sophie Vogel, Paula Reimann and Dana Marquardt were the only three players from last Monday’s XI up to take to the pitch from the outset. The head coach had prepared his team in advance for a very defensive opponent – this proved to be true, if only because the team from Moers had travelled with only nine outfield players and one goalkeeper.
From the outset, the game developed into a one-sided affair: after early attempts by Ronja Leubner (2) and Celina Baum (9), Dana Marquardt and Leubner again had great chances to score. But it was Noreen Günnewig, in the 13th minute, who scored the opening goal with a long-range shot from around 18 metres out.
The Borussia players now had caught the scent and pushed for the next goal. Dana Marquardt scored it in the 19th minute when she headed in a cross from Celina Baum to make it 2-0. Shortly afterwards, it was Celina Baum who again played a sharp cross, which Ronja Leubner guided it into the bottom right corner to open up a well-deserved 3-0 lead. After that, the Black & Yellows lacked precision, which was reflected in three shots that hit the woodwork. But just before the half-time whistle, the goal music sounded once again: Nora Willeke scored from close range – after another assist from Celina Baum – to make it 4-0 at half-time.
At the start of the second half, Markus Högner brought on three fresh players: Jasmin Jabbes, Frederike Kempe and Emilia Pauls. However, the run of play remained unchanged, meaning Moers goalkeeper Tanja Soentjens had to pick the ball out of her net for the fifth time in the 50th minute: Frederike Kempe celebrated her first goal in the Regionalliga West with a well-placed long-range shot. After further chances (and shots that hit the woodwork), a trio of goals followed! Rita Schumacher (68th minute), Annika Enderle (71st minute) and Schumacher again (73rd minute) made it 8-0 within just five minutes. Shortly before the final whistle, the 1,348 fans at the Rote Erde stadium had one last reason to cheer: Rita Schumacher (who had only come on as a substitute in the 63rd minute) scored her third goal to make it 9-0.
The Borussia women's next challenge in the Regionalliga West is already coming up this Sunday (5 October, 13:00 CEST). Markus Högner's team will face the women of DSC Arminia Bielefeld at the Edimedien Arena. The match on Matchday 7 can be seen live and free of charge on Pluto TV.
