Jon Cabo, 25, has been officially added by Barakaldo CF after recovering from an anterior cruciate ligament injury. The Bilbao-born winger links up with one of the most prominent sides in the Primera Federación.
According to as.com, the former Sestao and Lugo player had been close to returning at the end of last season following his operation. He said his partner and family had helped him greatly during rehabilitation.
He has been training with Barakaldo at Lasesarre, joined AFE sessions under coach Javi González, and had a trial with Barcelona B a couple of months ago.
An Athletic academy graduate, Cabo played two friendlies under Ernesto Valverde. One was at El Plantío against Burgos, the other against Udinese in Italy, alongside Gerenabarrena, now on loan at Castellón.
Barakaldo are coached by Imanol de la Sota and are aiming for the Segunda play-offs in the final stretch of the season. After four seasons in the Primera RFEF with Bilbao Athletic, Sestao and Lugo, Cabo has more than 120 appearances, offering experience, dribbling and verticality in attack.
