The Italian defender, now into his second season at Arsenal, told Versus that while supporters in Italy create a relentless wall of sound, England offers something different.
“In Italy, the fans sing non-stop from the first to the last minute,” Calafiori said. “The atmosphere is special.
“In England it’s different – maybe they sing less, but the whole stadium is involved. When you score or make an important tackle, you feel the energy immediately.
“In Italy it’s more about the ultras, but here it feels like the whole city is behind you.”

Calafiori’s moved from Bologna in the summer of 2024, for a fee that could hit £42 million. Since arriving, the 23-year-old has scored crucial goals against Manchester City, Wolves, and Manchester United, alongside a Champions League strike against PSV Eindhoven, using his left foot, right foot and head.
He has already become a fan favourite, not only for his defensive composure and ability to play all over the pitch, but also for the chaos he brings to the game.
Speaking at the time of his arrival, Mikel Arteta praised Calafiori’s “willingness and passion to join Arsenal,” while staff have since highlighted his character and professionalism.
