The right-back Paulo Henrique from Vasco revealed in his first interview as a player for the Brazilian National Team the unusual story behind his call-up. Paulo Henrique detailed the sequence of events. After the victory over Vitória, he went straight to the airport to enjoy two days off with his family in Santa Catarina. The career-changing news came at the moment of landing. He recounted:

“It was when the plane landed there that I received the message, the call. Then it was all joy. That initial shock, to inform my wife and family, who were waiting. I said: ‘I’ll have to go back because I’ve been called up’.”

In the interview, the right-back made sure to thank Vasco for the opportunity to develop as a player. He acknowledged that the continuity and confidence gained at the club were crucial for the call-up to become a reality. The new “selectee” stated:

“Vasco allowed me to develop, learn, evolve, and wearing this jersey for the third consecutive season made me evolve a lot. If it weren't for wearing Vasco's jersey and having confidence, playing, I wouldn't be here today.”
