Canada defeat France to complete perfect group stage in U-17 Women's World Cup

MIAMI – The FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup Morocco 2025 continued on Saturday, with Concacaf nation Canada playing its final Group Stage encounter.
Already qualified to the Knockout Stage, Canada sought a perfect finish in the opening round and achieved it with a victory over France.
Canada 2, France 1
Canada earned a 2-1 win against France in Group D at Football Academy Mohammed VI (Pitch 1) in Salé, Morocco.
Melisa Kekic scored the opening goal in the 14’ to place Canada in front. The Reds doubled their lead in the 53’ through an own goal from France’s Oceane Moreau Tranchant.
Lea Morissaint took one back for the French in the 63’, but the scoreline would remain unchanged for the rest of the encounter.
Reed Tingley earned a second booking in the 86’ and will miss Canada’s next encounter.
With the victory, Canada finish first place in its group with a 3-0-0 record. The North Americans will retake the field on Wednesday in the Round of 16.
