Antoine Semenyo experienced a rather unusual situation in the Carabao Cup this season. Knocked out of the competition last August, he has now booked his place in the final of the very same tournament this Wednesday night.

The image of Antoine Semenyo sitting on the pitch, visibly dejected after Bournemouth’s elimination at the final whistle against Brentford (0-2) on August 26, 2025, remained etched in fans’ memories.

A little over five months later, the Black Stars forward got a second chance and seized his revenge by qualifying for the final with Manchester City.

Signed this winter, the 26-year-old winger took advantage of a change in the rules, allowing him to feature in the semi-final and help the Citizens secure qualification. Having already won the first leg (0-2), Pep Guardiola’s side delivered once again against Newcastle (3-1) to set up a Wembley showdown with Arsenal.

In the final scheduled for March 22 at Wembley, Semenyo has the chance to make history—not only by lifting his first trophy with the Citizens, but also by winning silverware in a competition where he was originally knocked out.
