Carlo Ancelotti watched Cruzeiro v Corinthians at Mineirão on Wednesday in the fourth round of the Campeonato Brasileiro, as he finalises in-person assessments before March call-ups for friendlies with France and Croatia.
According to Globo.com, he arrived with Rodrigo Caetano, the CBF’s general executive coordinator for men’s national teams. He did not speak to the media and viewed the match from a box.
At the ground he received gifts from the Mineirão administration and a personalised Cruzeiro shirt.
The visit forms part of his in loco monitoring of players who could be selected. In his previous squad for friendlies against Senegal and Tunisia, he picked Corinthians goalkeeper Hugo Souza and Cruzeiro defender Fabrício Bruno.
In March he will name the squad for France and Croatia, the final tests before the release of the World Cup list in mid-year in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
Cruzeiro players Matheus Pereira and Kaio Jorge are also in the frame for selection.
Elsewhere, Brazil staff will attend other fixtures this round, with technical coordinator Juan Santos and fitness coordinator Cristiano Nunes set to watch Coritiba v São Paulo at Couto Pereira in Curitiba.
Meanwhile, staff based in Europe continue to follow the continent’s major leagues, including Champions League matches.
