Carlos Soler wants the best for Guido Rodríguez and would welcome him staying at Valencia if the Argentine and his family choose to remain. The pair were team-mates at West Ham last season and have stayed close, holidaying together in Formentera this summer.

According to Superdeporte, Valencia have made Rodríguez’s continuity the priority for 26/27, with renewal talks ongoing after a 24 March meeting in Paterna involving Kiat Lim, Ron Gourlay and Carlos Corberán, before his contract expires on 30 June.

Soler, now at Real Sociedad, said around the Copa del Rey final that Rodríguez had been a safe bet in winter, praising his character and work rate and hoping he keeps helping the side. He noted the Argentine had limited minutes at West Ham but felt he belonged at Mestalla.

Valencia’s need to secure him has only grown after his influence in the second half of LaLiga. Corberán has pushed in recent days for club and player to find an agreement.

Talks continue and nothing is ruled out. It is difficult, not impossible, and Corberán wants to fight it to the end before turning to a plan B.
