Carreras hails Madrid fans and departing duo, ex Benfica man omits Arbeloa | OneFootball

Álvaro Carreras ended his first Real Madrid season with a message to supporters and tributes to Dani Carvajal and David Alaba, who are set to leave. According to Glorioso 1904, the former Benfica left-back posted to address fans and team-mates.

His post followed a 4-0 win over Athletic Bilbao at the Santiago Bernabéu, the final home outing of the season.

On social media he thanked madridistas for their backing and framed the victory as a home farewell to the campaign. He said the two defenders would be missed and that he had learned from them daily, praising them as footballers and as people.

He made no reference to Álvaro Arbeloa, a coach also due to leave. The omission adds to friction between the pair that has grown in recent months and flared again recently.

In 2025/26, Carreras made 40 appearances for Real Madrid, 28 in La Liga, nine in the Champions League, two in the Super Cup and one in the Spanish Cup. Across 3,402 minutes he scored two goals and supplied three assists. The Spanish international was not included in the World Cup squad and is valued at €60 million.
