Carroll header sends Mirassol up five places

Mirassol beat Remo 2-1 at the Maião, climbing from 19th to 14th in the Brasileirão as João Victor Carroll's second half header settled it.

Marllon diverted into his own net in the 30th minute to put the hosts ahead after a spell of pressure.

On the stroke of the interval, Leonel Picco levelled with a right-footed strike from range in the first minute of first half stoppage time.

After the restart, Carroll glanced in Reinaldo's cross (54.) to restore the lead and complete the scoring.

Leão Azul pushed late, with Jajá slicing wide from the right side of the six-yard box (89.), but Mirassol's back line held firm.

Mirassol controlled more of the ball with 54.1% possession. Leão Azul registered 13 attempts yet hit the target only twice.
