Andorra's Cronos probe into alleged luxury watch smuggling has reached Spanish football, with Dani Carvajal, Santi Cazorla, Giovani Lo Celso, Thomas Partey, César Azpilicueta, Juan Bernat and David Silva among those to be questioned.

eldiario.es reports that judge Joan Carles Moynat wants statements taken in Spain, with the players treated as persons under investigation. A rogatory request asks a Spanish magistrate to have the Guardia Civil question them over alleged purchases from Best In Asociados.

The case centres on whether watches were bought in Andorra to avoid taxes then delivered in Spain without customs declarations, and the businessman also counted influencers and other elite athletes, including racing drivers, among his clients.

Investigators are examining transactions worth between 12 and 20 million euros since the company was formed. It ran a by-appointment showroom in Andorra la Vella. The probe began in 2024 when customs flagged an attempt to export to Asia a 210,000 euro watch at the border.

Spanish businessman Diego García, alleged head of the network, has been in pre-trial detention since October last year after his arrest. He was held at the river Runer crossing, and is accused of importing watches into Andorra, claiming VAT refunds, then reselling them below market without export declarations.

Police have examined bank accounts linked to the suspect and associated firms, finding deposits that could match client payments. Officers seized about 240,000 euros in cash and three high-end vehicles.
