Major League Soccer giants Inter Miami and LA Galaxy have reportedly taken a decisive step towards signing Manchester United midfielder Casemiro on a free, with another suitor also patiently waiting in the wings.

Next career step

In January, Casemiro confirmed he will leave United at the end of the season, once his contract expires.

United retained the option to extend his stay by an additional 12 months but they opted against taking it up, presumably to offload his massive wages off their books. Casemiro’s improved performances have sparked renewed calls for United to make a U-turn and keep him beyond the end of the campaign.

After he scored in the 3-1 win over Aston Villa, the Old Trafford crowd broke into a chant of “One more year! One more year!” However, it’s understood that there are no plans to reverse course and the Brazilian will still leave.

There has been no shortage of interest in the five-time Champions League winner. A report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that AC Milan are keen on adding him to their ranks. Juventus and Inter Milan have also been named as admirers of the player.

FC Porto defender Thiago Silva publicly urged Casemiro to return to Portugal and join him at Estádio do Dragão.

MLS and the Saudi Pro League have also been mentioned as potential destinations, and it seems Casemiro will be spoilt for choice.

According to ESPN, Inter Miami and LA Galaxy recently made contact over the possibility of signing Casemiro. Meanwhile, Al-Ittihad are also keeping close tabs on the situation and how it develops.

Casemiro transfer latest

ESPN say, “Miami and the Galaxy are among the clubs to have contacted Casemiro in recent days, though no formal offers have yet been made, sources confirmed to ESPN Brazil’s Felipe Silva and Pedro Ivo Almeida.”

“There would be challenges to a deal for both teams, with the Galaxy and Miami already having their full quota of designated player slots filled on their roster.”

“Sources have also told ESPN’s Rodra and Moises Llorens that Al Ittihad are closely monitoring the situation and are keen to tempt him to Saudi Arabia.”

Al-Ittihad are said to be in the market for a high-profile player following Karim Benzema’s switch to Al-Hilal in February. They have Fabinho but his future at the club is uncertain, and there is a chance Casemiro could replace the former Liverpool man.

ESPN add that Casemiro still feels he can continue his career in one of Europe’s top leagues.
