Casparij and Park nominated for April WSL awards | OneFootball

Kerstin Casparij and Jess Park have received nominations for April's Barclays Women's Super League awards.

Both players had a stellar months as City gained four points in the top-flight, with a 1-1 draw against Everton, followed by a 1-0 win at Leicester.

Due to her individual sparkling displays, the Netherlands defender has been nominated for the Player of Month award.

And the England international is in contention for Goal of the Month for her venomous strike against Leicester in our 1-0 success at the King Power Stadium.

Casparij began the month by netting in the draw with the Toffees at the Joie Stadium when she met Lily Murphy’s cross at the back post to tap home from close-range.

But her attacking threat didn't stop there as she went close on multiple occasions against Leicester.

Inside 20 minutes, she volleyed the ball over the bar on the turn before going close once again when Park found her inside the box, but again the ball flashed wide of the target.

Park also played a pivotal role in our victory over Leicester and her vicious strike on 70 minutes proved to be the only goal of the game.

City had been threatening all afternoon before the versatile midfielder found the breakthrough.

It was a beautiful goal, with the winger picking the ball up on the right wing, before taking a touch and smashing the into the top corner.

It was a powerful goal that handed the Foxes their first defeat on home soil since November and earnt her a well-deserved Goal of the Month nomination.

Casparij faces competition from Brighton's Michelle Agyemang, Aston Villa's Chasity Grant and Kirsty Hanson and West Ham's Shekiera Martinez for the Player of the Month prize.

Meanwhile, Park is up against the Villan's Hanson, Chelsea's Catarina Macario, West Ham's Martinez and Viviane Asseyi, Everton's Katja Snoeijs for Goal of the Month.
