Celtic are interested in bringing Reims midfielder Mory Gbane to the Scottish Premiership, according to French outlet Foot Mercato.
Celtic manager Martin O’Neill has signed Colombian striker Camilo Duran and the Hoops want to bring a midfielder to the Parkhead club.
The Bhoys are keen on Gbane but will face competition from West Ham United and Trabzonspor.
The Ligue 2 club are open to selling the 6ft 2in Ivory Coast international if a substantial offer comes their way, and Celtic will be monitoring his situation.
The 25-year-old Gbane impressed last season, featuring in 30 appearances across all competitions, weighing in with three goals.
The Hoops target has established himself as a key player in Reims and a move to Celtic could appeal to him.
The Bhoys are playing in the Champions League next season, and the Ivorian will be interested in featuring in the elite European competition.
Gbane’s major strength is winning back possession, and O’Neill could do with his presence in the middle of the park.
He also has an excellent technical ability and knows how to distribute passes to his forwards.
Celtic need a major squad upgrade to challenge in Europe next term and win the three domestic trophies.
Gbane fits the bill and his versatility will also come in handy as he can play as a centre-back.
He is strong in the air and can be a threat in the opposition’s box during set-pieces.
Gbane dribbles well, knows how to intercept, block and the ball out of defence.
