Celtic made it six wins from six in the league and nine from nine in all competitions. 33 goals have been scored in those nine games and the team is playing unstoppable football at the minute.

Combined with the free-flowing displays from the forward players, Celtic have yet to concede a goal in the league. Six consecutive clean sheets for Kasper Schmeichel, a domestic record for a Hoops goalkeeper dating back 118 years.

Despite acknowledging the strengths of the opponents, Rodgers believes his side have a chance, “Dortmund are a good team with top players. They were Champions League finalists last season but it is an exciting game for us. We know it will be a tough game. Make no bones about it, this is a team on a really, really high level. But we are top players. I am looking forward to seeing how we measure up against that.”

The manager continued, “can we get a result? Why not? We go there with good attributes in the team. The physicality and running power that we have.”

With Celtic having won only two of their last 34 Champions League group stage away matches, Rodgers points to concentration as being a key factor on Tuesday evening, “you know you are going to have moments of stress when you are away, but you can see in our mentality and how we defend and how compact we are and how tight we are. In those moments when you do have to do that, then when you break out of that, you have speed in your front line. That can really, really hurt [Dortmund], but we’re on to no illusions.”
