Celtic reminded of ticket sanctions for Premier Sports Cup meeting with Rangers

Celtic have been reminded that their supporters face sanctions over behaviour from last season’s competition. Brendan Rodgers’ side secured their return to Hampden with a 4-0 win over Partick Thistle and were drawn to face Rangers.

The Scottish Champions won the trophy on penalties after an enthralling match against the Ibrox side. However, Celtic will see their allocation cut due to use of flares by supporters back in December. The SPFl sanctioned Celtic for breaching their rules, which means that the allocation will be reduced by 500 briefs after the league decided to sanction teams.

There is also a suspended sanction of a reduction of 800 tickets in a future Premier Sports Cup match at Hampden looming over Celtic. This is set to be triggered if there is another Rule H34 breach via pyrotechnics by Celtic supporters in any SPFL competition before 30 March 2027. Hopefully there will be no further infractions and the allocation returns to its full complement- ideally for the Final.

Ticketing arrangements will follow the kickoff details being confirmed by the SPFL as Brendan’s side look to knockout Russell Martin’s embattled side to set up a Final against either Motherwell or St Mirren.

A number of Celtic supporters have taken the decision to remove themselves from the HCTS in protest at the club’s direction under the current board. It will no doubt be a nightmare for supporters who are on the HCTS to get a ticket, as it normally is, which also speaks to one of the complaints that fans have with the club – the transparency of ticket allocations.
