Celtic reportedly interested in two Scottish left backs to support KT

Celtic are reportedly interested in signing Josh Doig and James Penrice this summer. The Scottish Champions are in the market for another left back after Kieran Tierney secured an emotional return to his boyhood club, penning a five year deal.

With Greg Taylor departing, Celtic have been linked with a duo of Scottish left backs as Brendan Rodgers eyes cover for KT. Hearts fullback Penrice was impressive during a dismal season for the Jambos. Record Sport reports that Celtic have scouted the player but it remains to be seen whether they pursue a deal.

Elsewhere, Celtic have been linked with a move for Doig. HITC’s Graeme Bailey claims that Celtic rate the 23-year-old and could be a target this summer. Although, Sassuolo paid £5m for the player eighteen months ago and Celtic would likely need to spend more than that to bring the player to Paradise.

In terms of cost, Penrice is likely to be more attainable than Doig, who has impressed in Serie A. New Hearts manager Derek McInnes could be eager to cash in on the former Livi player in order to assist with funds for his new squad this summer. Although, Penrice is likely one that he could build his team around.

Elsewhere, Celtic remain interested in signing Lennon Miller from Motherwell. The 18-year-old is expected to leave the Fir Park club this summer, with just one year remaining on his deal. However, no formal bid has been made by Celtic but the club are keen on bringing the Scotland Internationalist to Paradise.
