In a recent interview with SpilXperten, Italian transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio has shared an update on Kasper Hogh. Celtic remain keen on the Bodo/Glimt star but might face competition from Hearts, who are also weighing up a summer move for the free-scoring centre-forward.

The 25-year-old Denmark international progressed through Vorup FB and Randers’ academy ranks before breaking into the latter’s first-team squad back in his homeland. He also had a brief loan stint with Valur in Iceland, but was allowed to join the second-tier side Hobro due to limited opportunities at his boyhood club. AaB snapped him up in January 2022 and eventually sanctioned a loan switch to the newly-promoted Norwegian top-flight outfit Stabæk a year later.

Stabæk made the deal permanent for €350k a few months later, only to let him ply his trade to Bodo/Glimt in January 2024 for €700k. Hogh has been in stellar form for the Super Team, firing in 50 goals and assisting 19 times in 98 outings. Their dream Champions League run has put the club in a strong position, as they increased the Dane’s valuation from £7m to £10m.

Celtic attempted a late move for Hogh at the backend of the winter window. Norwich City were also chasing his signing. However, both clubs opted for other targets after failing to strike a deal. Although the Hoops brought in Tomas Cvancara and Junior Adamu to bolster themselves high up the pitch, neither of them has done enough to earn a contract beyond this campaign.

Meanwhile, the Bhoys are likely to undergo a squad overhaul before next season. Despite battling for a ‘domestic double’, their form has been below par across competitions. Martin O’Neill has brought them back on track, but the club must find his long-term successor, with the veteran Northern Irishman set to step down in a couple of weeks.

Why Celtic Must Wrap Up The Deal To Avoid Another Transfer Setback

The Premiership race has reached its culmination, as the Celts must clinch a win in the final gameweek against league leaders Hearts to conquer the coveted crown; however, the Jambos will also rival them in the transfer market, having joined the hunt for the Danish hitman.

Kelechi Iheanacho has been the saviour with several late winners as a ‘super sub’. But the Nigerian has struggled with persistent injury problems upon his summer arrival on a Bosman. Also, the club might listen to offers for Daizen Maeda, as the Japanese ace has been eyeing a fresh challenge elsewhere. Callum Osmand is too young to lead the frontline, thus highlighting the necessity of a high-profile ‘number 9’. Hogh ticks the boxes of an outright goalscorer, who could emulate Kyogo Furuhashi’s impact in the Celtic attack.
