Jim Goodwin was at Hampden on Sunday

Jim Goodwin, who made the most of his day off at the weekend to attend the Scottish Cup semi-final match between St Johnstone and Celtic, will probably be looking at deploying the same tactics that earned his side a point on Celtic’s last visit to Tannadice back in December. It figures given that prospect that there are home end tickets kicking around for a tenner yet Celtic supporters are getting charged a whopping £42. It’s the price of success but Celtic can return the compliment next season.

Celtic’s Tannadice title joy on this day in 1981

The Scottish FA this morning confirmed the match officials for what could be Celtic’s title winning party, just like it was on an unforgettable Wednesday evening on this day back in 1981. Dundee United in those days were a very good side and they didn’t want Celtic winning the league on their patch. It was an incredible evening, even for us who had an English exam to sit the next day. Don Robertson is the referee for Dundee United v Celtic

Don Robertson will have the whistle at Tannadice on Saturday. He has already handled five Celtic games this season, the most recent being across the road at Dens Park in that 3-3 draw on St Valentine’s Night. Robertson has also had the whistle in four Dundee United matches during this campaign.

Celtic’s win ratio what Roberson has the whistle is 60%, whereas it’s just 25% for Dundee United. So far this season Robertson has booked five Celtic players and and eleven yellow cards have been shown to Dundee United players.

Robertson will be assisted by David Roome and Ross Nelson both running the line, while Greg Aitken will be the VAR official, and he will be assisted by Graeme Leslie.

Dundee United v Celtic kicks off at 12.30pm and will be shown live Sky Sports and on Celtic TV for subscribers based outside of Britain and Ireland. Presumably there will be massive Celtic gathering at Celtic Park after the match on Saturday evening and Celtic should surely look at opening up the stadium and allowing supporters in to welcome back the Champions.

Remember the day Celtic Park opened up to welcome our new manager?

Remember the day we welcomed Brendan Rodgers to Celtic Park the first time around? That kind of thing. The early kick-off at Tannadice means that the game will be over around 2.30pm so there’s plenty of time to get back to Celtic Park for a title winning celebration with the supporters, especially the ones unable to get their hands on a ticket for the game.
