Roma boss Gian Piero Gasperini and defender Evan Ndicka have expressed their concerns in the build-up to this week’s crucial Europa League clash with Celtic…

The Hoops are set to take on the Italian giants tomorrow night, who return to Glasgow for a second time in this tournament after beating theRangers 2–0 at Ibrox just last month.

However, similar to Celtic, Roma suffered a disappointing league loss at the weekend, losing 1-0 to Cagliari while also seeing Turkish international Zeki Çelik sent off and they head into the match at Celtic Park without a goal in their last two outings.

And Ivory Coast centre-back Ndicka offered no justification for Roma’s most recent let-down.

Speaking ahead of Thursday’s encounter at Celtic Park, Ndicka said via Roma Press: “We’re not happy with how we played [against Cagliari]. We lost our heads and couldn’t stay focused. We’re disappointed because we also lost against a team we expected to win. We need to get back on our feet quickly because we have to focus on the next match against Celtic.”

Meanwhile, Roma manager Gian Piero Gasperini acknowledges that his side urgently needs to rediscover its scoring touch.

He said: “We made some gross errors. The sending off changed the game and it felt like a battle. But we have to admit that we are not doing well enough in front of goal.”

“I think it’s too early to talk about January and the transfer market. Now is definitely not the time. We want to recover the players we have in the squad first and try to manage them as best we can ahead of going to Scotland.”

Roma currently sit 15th in the Europa League table and are on nine points after five matches. A victory against Celtic would secure a top 24 place heading into their final two matches in Europe after the New Year.
