The First Disciplinary Commission of the Superior Tribunal de Justiça Desportiva punished coach Rogério Ceni, defender David Duarte and director Cadu Santoro for criticising the officiating after the 2-1 loss to Palmeiras on 5 this month. Globo.com reports the ruling was unanimous and is open to appeal.

Ceni was cited under article 258 for disrespecting officials and received a one-match ban. Already out on Sunday against Flamengo after a third booking, he must serve one further game. Referee Lucas Casagrande (PR) recorded the yellow for offensive dissent, and Ceni later criticised him and VAR Rodolpho Toski Marques.

At the hearing Ceni said he did not question integrity or show disrespect, insisting he only voiced an opinion. He maintained a foul should have been given in the key incident and that VAR chose not to intervene, which he believes decided the match.

Santoro was also punished under article 258 for approaching the referee and received a 15-day suspension. He said he spoke firmly without insults because he felt the decision was wrong, citing a previous Ceará incident.

Duarte called the outcome a robbery in his post-match interview. He was charged under article 243-F, paragraph one, receiving a four-match ban and a R$ 500 fine, then apologised for his wording.

Bahia and Palmeiras were also sanctioned. Bahia were fined R$ 4,000 under article 206 for a four-minute late return after half-time, while Palmeiras must pay R$ 500 under article 191 for failing to comply with regulations.
