Champions League blockbuster: PSG host Bayern in semi-final first leg

The defending champion hosts the German giant this Tuesday at the Parc des Princes, in a clash between two major contenders for the European title.

The UEFA Champions League is entering its decisive stage, and this Tuesday will bring a true blockbuster: Paris Saint-Germain will host Bayern Munich in the first leg of the semifinals, in a matchup that promises high drama between two giants of European football.

The match will be played from 16:00 (Argentina time) at the Parc des Princes, with coverage on Fox Sports, ESPN and Disney+ Premium, and will be officiated by Swiss referee Sandro Schärer.

The French side, managed by Luis Enrique, comes in hoping to defend the title and win back-to-back crowns in the continent’s most important club tournament.

PSG wants to repeat the glory

PSG’s road to the semifinals was not easy. After finishing 11th in the league phase, they had to come through a demanding knockout run to reach the final four.

They first knocked out Monaco with a 5-4 aggregate score, then crushed Chelsea 8-2 and finally beat Liverpool convincingly with a resounding 4-0.

With Ousmane Dembélé as its main attacking star, the Parisian side once again looks like one of the top favorites to lift the Champions League trophy.

Bayern goes for its seventh Champions League title

On the other side will be the ever-dangerous Bayern Munich, looking to claim its seventh title in Europe’s top club competition.

The German team, coached by Belgian manager Vincent Kompany, was the second-best side in the opening phase, which allowed it to qualify directly for the round of 16.

At that stage, it showed no mercy and crushed Italy’s Atalanta with a stunning 10-2 aggregate score.

However, its biggest test came in the quarterfinals, where it eliminated none other than Real Madrid after winning 6-4 on aggregate, with a 2-1 away victory and a 4-3 home win.

With that result behind them, Bayern arrives full of confidence and convinced it can pull off a big result in Paris.

The other semifinal

The other semifinal matchup will feature Atlético de Madrid and Arsenal, who will play the first leg this Wednesday, also from 16:00, in the Spanish capital.
