Early on Thursday, July 24, head coach Benni McCarthy unveiled the final list of 25 players who will represent Kenya’s Harambee Stars at the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN). The tournament, co-hosted by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania, is set to kick off on August 2, 2025.
Kenya has announced its final squad for CHAN 2024. Local team coach Benni McCarthy has named 25 players to compete in the championship. Among the selected is striker Masoud Juma. The 29-year-old’s call-up came as a surprise since he had been without a club following his departure from Esteghlal FC at the end of the 2024/25 season. However, coach McCarthy officially confirmed that Masoud Juma has just signed with Migori Youth FC, a Kenyan Premier League side. This makes him eligible for CHAN, a tournament exclusively reserved for domestic-based players.
In addition, veteran goalkeeper Byrne Omondi returns to the squad, joining Faruk Shikhalo and Sebastian Wekesa. The group also welcomes promising young talents from the Kenyan U20 team that participated in the U20 AFCON, with Manzur Suleiman, Lewis Bandi, Swaleh Pamba, and Kevin Okumu called up to inject youthful energy into the side.
