Chelsea add Tyrique George to Champions League squad after failed deadline day transfer | OneFootball

Tyrique George has been included in Chelsea’s Champions League squad after his proposed move to Fulham collapsed.

Chelsea had reportedly reached an agreement with Fulham to sell George, but the deal fell through at the eleventh hour.

The Cottagers had lined up the England youth international as a replacement for Harry Wilson, who was linked with Leeds United, but the deal did not go through.

Roma were also credited with an interest in George, but manager Gian Piero Gasperini did not sanction the transfer. Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig also considered a move for him.

Journalist Fabrizio Romano revealed that Manchester United discussed George during the negotiations for Alejandro Garnacho.

George is now set to stay at Chelsea at least until January and has been named by the club as one of the List B players for Europe’s elite competition.

He will compete with Garnacho, Jamie Gittens, and Pedro Neto for a place in the starting line-up.

The 19-year-old joined the Blues as an under-8 and featured across the youth levels before making his senior debut in a Europa Conference League play-off tie against Swiss club Servette in 2024.

The London-born winger featured 12 times as Chelsea won the Conference League last season and scored his first goal in the quarter-final first leg win over Legia Warsaw.

He scored his first Premier League goal at Fulham ten days later.

George will hope to get more opportunities in the Champions League this season.

Chelsea face Bayern Munich, Benfica, Ajax, Qarabag, Barcelona, Atalanta, Pafos and Napoli in the league phase.
