In a recent report on Substack, journalist Simon Phillips stated that Chelsea are in the mix to land West Ham United winger Mohammed Kudus. It has been stated that the Blues are ready to push Tottenham Hotspur in pursuit of the Ghana international this summer.
The 24-year-old enjoyed a decent run of form at the East London club after he put in a run of eye-catching displays for them in the final third. Kudus registered five goals and grabbed four assists in 35 matches for West Ham last season in various competitions.
The Ghanaian talent caught the eye at times on the right wing by averaging 2.61 shots per 90 minutes in the Premier League. However, he only kept 28% of his attempts on target. Kudus was even accurate when distributing possession from the wide areas based on his pass completion rate of 83.6% in the English top tier (stats via fbref.com).
Kudus is under contract at the London Stadium until the summer of 2028 which could make it tough for the Blues to sign him on the cheap in this transfer window.

Kudus is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet and can make some driving runs with it out on the flanks. He usually generates a lot of power with his shot attempts from long range and has got the vision to create a few inviting chances for his teammates in and around the opponent’s goal.
The Ghana international is primarily a right-sided wide player but can also fill in as a left-sided wide player or play in the number ten position if told to do so by his manager. He has already got some experience in the Premier League and won’t take much time to adjust to life at Stamford Bridge.
Kudus would add more firepower to Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca’s frontline. He is good enough to challenge for regular first-team football at the West London club next season.
At 24, Kudus has his peak years ahead of him which makes him a worthy target for the Blues to pursue in this summer transfer window.
