In a recent report, The Telegraph revealed that Chelsea are ready to step up their efforts to land Crystal Palace defender Maxence Lacroix. It has been mentioned that the Blues are preparing to move in for the French centre-back in this transfer window.

Lacroix’s Impressive Form In English Football

Lacroix enjoyed a solid campaign at the London club as he produced a string of impressive displays for them on the defensive end of the field. The 26-year-old featured in 55 matches for Crystal Palace last season, scoring three goals and securing three assists in multiple competitions.

The French talent is currently among the most consistent centre-backs in the Premier League. Therefore, it is no surprise that the Blues are hoping to bring him on board this off-season.

His current deal at Selhurst Park will run out in the summer of 2029, which could make it tough for Chelsea to land him on the cheap in this transfer period.

Will Lacroix Be A Good Choice For Chelsea Boss Xabi Alonso?

Lacroix is a good tackler of the ball and can read the danger well to make some important interceptions for his team inside his half. He usually puts his foot through the ball when required and is an accurate passer as well from the back.

Standing at 1.90m, the French talent can use his strong frame to win a few 50-50 aerial duels for his team. He is already quite familiar with the Premier League and won’t take much time to adjust to life at Stamford Bridge.

We can expect Lacroix to enhance the quality of Chelsea boss Xabi Alonso’s defence. He is capable of challenging for a regular starting place at the West London club next season.

At 26, Lacroix has his best years ahead of him, which makes him a good choice for the Blues to consider this summer. He will also help Chelsea get back to challenging for a top-four spot in the Premier League over the next few years. Hence, Alonso should focus on going all out to get him on board as long as he can do so for a reasonable fee before the end of this transfer window.
