Chelsea consider recalling loanee after Delap injury | OneFootball

Chelsea are considering recalling Marc Guiu from his loan spell at Sunderland after Liam Delap’s injury.

Delap sustained a hamstring injury during the club’s 2-0 win over Fulham on Saturday and is facing a spell on the sidelines.

With Nicolas Jackson having been on the verge of a loan move to Bayern Munich before Delap’s injury, Chelsea are weighing up their options.

A move for Sporting CP striker Conrad Harder is being explored, as is the potential cancellation of Guiu’s loan move to Sunderland.

The latter joined the newly-promoted side earlier this summer but has featured for just 13 minutes across Sunderland’s opening three Premier League fixtures.

He made his only start in the midweek Carabao Cup clash against Huddersfield Town, scoring in a 1-1 draw before Sunderland lost on penalties.

Chelsea will assess whether recalling the 19-year-old is an option before proceeding with transfer business. Guiu joined Chelsea from Barcelona in 2024 and scored six times in 16 appearances across all competitions last season.
