Chelsea have hit a snag in their efforts to offload Trevoh Chalobah this summer.
According to journalist Alfredo Pedulla, the Blues have reached out to Como to revive negotiations for the England international.
The 27-year-old is also attracting interest from Serie A champions Inter Milan.
However, Chelsea have been forced to explore other options after the Italian giants temporarily paused their interest in Chalobah.
Inter and Como are the clubs mostly interested in Chalobah, meaning the Englishman is more than likely to end up in Italy this summer.
However, recent developments suggest that neither club is ready to rush into a deal.
Inter’s immediate priority has shifted after missing out on other transfer targets, with the club now concentrating on signing a wing-back.
That has pushed a move for Chalobah down their list for the time being, even though they could return with an offer later in the window.
Inter’s reluctance has prompted Chelsea to reopen talks with Como to gauge whether they’re still interested, even after turning down an initial €25 million (£21.3m) bid.
Chelsea believe Chalobah is worth more and are hoping to cash in for a fee closer to £30m. However, none of the Italian clubs are ready to match their demands.
They were hoping the competition between Inter and Como would drive up Chalobah’s price tag, but both clubs have agreed not to compete aggressively for the same players.
Como are already exploring a move for Galatasaray defender Davinson Sanchez.
The former Tottenham Hotspur centre-back is on their shortlist, and Como manager Cesc Fabregas has reportedly given them the green light to pursue a move.
Chelsea will hope to convince Como to return to the negotiating table, but they may have to accept a compromise to revive a potential deal for Chalobah.
